Churning out talented cosmetologists, estheticians and nail technicians since 1971, Dudley Beauty College Chicago continues to celebrate the success of its graduates.
“It’s so rewarding. It gives anybody that has a hand in educating a reason to continue,” Dudley Beauty College Senior Director Betty Clawson tells Champagne & Beyond. “It’s actually the fuel that gives you the energy and determination to continue.”
Here’s an update on where a few of them are now:
When Dudley graduate Johnny Wright is not styling First Lady Michelle Obama as her personal stylist, he’s an educator for a major haircare line, as well as owner of a line of hard goods. The Chicago-based stylist has also been SoftSheen Carson’s artistic style director.
JoElle Lyons-Lee also found success in the White House as Mrs. Obama’s personal esthetician. She’s also owner of her own skincare line, JoElle SkinCare, based in Washington, D.C.
Ebony Wilson’s makeup artistry has graced the faces of R&B artist and American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, among other notables. She’s now the division manager for a department store-owned cosmetic company in Atlanta.
The future is bright for these Dudley graduates. And as Clawson says, “You never know when there’s another one that had that same desire and drive to do amazing things and decide that they would make a tremendous difference in the world.”
